- To save a place that you can email to someone or save to another computer, simply create your place by clicking on the insert placemarker button in the control bar on Google Earth.
- Now add your placemark name and a description.
- When you are finished, click on File>Save>Save Place As...
- You have the choice of a .kmz or .kml file.
- Choose a .kmz file to share with others using Google Earth.
- You can save a folder of places the same way.
- Be sure to save your places regularly to avoid losing info in a "crash!"
Try using html code to change your text (Make it bold or add colors) or add an image.

To Add and image with HTML code:
- Open your placemark to edit by double clicking on the marker, then using the menus, choose edit> Get Info.
- In the text box, type your caption and then add the code <br><br>. This adds two returns or hard breaks to make a apace between the text in the placemark box and your image.
- Type in the sourse code for your image. You must type the following exactly or copy and paste it into the text box. Note that the entire source code must start and end with brackets. < >

- Replace the brown text with the path for your image. Your entire image path must be in quotation marks. Examples of sample paths are listed below. (Yes, you do have to know exactly where your image is on your computer and what the name of it is. Try placeing the image on your desktop and renaming it so it will be easy to make a path!)
- Remember that each forward slash(/)(Mac users) or backwards slash (\)(Windows users) represents a folder. You username on your computer is also a folder.
- Keep trying if your image doesn't show up the first time. You may need to edit your path several times to get it right!

- Images Posted on the Internet. <img src="http://www.test.com/images/myDescriptiveImage.jpg"> Note that you must list the URL of the site where it is published and then the folder where the image can be found and the name of the image.
After you have created a placemark, you can easily share it with others on the Google Earth Community BBS website. To do this, right click (CTRL click on the Mac) on the placemark and choose Share/Post. The Google Earth Community posting wizard appears in a browser window at the bottom of your screen. Follow the instructions on this web page to post information about this placemark on the Google Earth BBS.
Note - You can also share information that appears in Google Earth via KML files. Save your KML files and email to a friend or move to another computer. Then, simply open the file and Google Earth will open and go straight to your placemark.
