Take a look at the link we have made to Google Maps. Note that when you double click on the marker, you can see an image of the building making it easier to find when driving.

You can create a link like the one we made on your school website following these directions:
- Make a connection to the server to see your website folder.
- Open the folder so that you can see the files for your website.
- Create a new folder on the top level of your website. Call this folder GoogleShare.
- Add an image of your school to the image folder on the top level of your website. If you have an image on your website already, check to make sure it is stored in the image folder on the top layer. (The top level contains the first set of folders for your website, e.g. Staff, Students, Academics, etc. Each of these folders may have it's own image folder.)
- Open Google Earth,
- Create a placemark at the street address of your school.
- In the description box, use the following link code to link to the image located in the top level of your school website folder. Check your password sheets for the IP number and School folder name.
- Link Code: <img src="http://IP#of the server/SchoolName/images/myDescriptiveImage.jpg">
- Remember that if you are working on your own OS X server, you will need to replace the IP number with your own and leave off the school name folder.
- Save the file as a .kml file.
- Put the .kml file into the GoogleShare folder on your webserver.
- Using a webbrowser, open Google Maps.
- Type the following link into the search box on Google Maps:
- Search Link: http://ServerIP/SchoolName/GoogleShare/SavedPlacemarkName.kml
- Click on Search.
- Your placemark will appear on the map. When you click on the placemark, your picture should appear as well.
- In the top right of the window, click "Link to this page."
- Copy the url that appears in the location line of your browser.
- Open Contribute to your directions page. Edit your page.
- Highlight the text you wish to link to the map. Click link>Browse to a website> and paste the location into the Web URL line.
- Publish your page.
