Building a Technology Team at your school

Your school Technology Team could consist of the following:

BLTC
MediaSpecialists
Curriculum Generalists
TAG teacher
Intec teachers
Other willing volunteers

Notice that this is not a team of one!! If you are the sole member of your Technology team, you should restructure the team! The goals of the team should be the enhancement of training opportunities for all staff members. The following is a description of how this department sees the future of the technology teams in Knox County Schools:

Intec Training focus:

NCLB says that a "highly-qualified" teacher can integrate technology into the classroom.

To support this, we changed our direction in that we no longer focus on teaching applications. The premise of Intec is that every teacher can turn on the computer; open the program they want to use; use a template to add to a lesson; have the students finish a project, save, print, and add to the students portfolio; and turn off the computer.

BLTC Training focus:

The training provided by the Instructional Technology Department for Building Level Technology Coaches will focus on:

  • Learning and Leading with Technology
  • Resources for building coaches
  • Skill enhancement training

"Now these kids can be creative, they can explore technology in as close to a real-world environment as possible, and they can play an active role in their education."

•  Dan Penstock
