Educators use handheld technolgies to gather data, verify schedules, collect grades, record student activities and progress, and have access to important student information.
Knox County Schools are using handheld technology in a number of ways. Special Ed teachers and assistants use handhelds to gather and record critical student progress. Guidance Counselors are using Star Moblie to keep track of student schedules, grades and dicipline infractions. In some schools, Safety Officers carry handhelds to keep track of student emergency contacts.
Several schools keep an extra handheld updated onsite for fieldtrips and special events. The handheld is checked out the teacher in charge to ensure that critical evergency contact information and medical records are availble when students are off the main campus.
Using StarMoblie, administrators can have critical student contact information on hand at anytime. For more information on using StarMoblie in KCS, contact Micki Daniel, Instructional Technology or John Dendrinos, Information Systems. |
