Technology has played a big role in social studies in Knox County Schools.  Denise Johnson, a Knox County Social Studies supervisor, has offered each social studies teacher under her supervision five days of training.  This training included Microsoft word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, File Maker Pro, Inspiration, movie making, internet and more. The Social Studies department believes that by using different technologies social studies will become more authentic, critical, and active, and hopefully lessons taught in social studies will become more powerful and meaningful for students.

Social Studies teachers used the following internet subscriptions:  netTrekker and United Streaming.

Teachers can use technology to enhance student learning

in the Social Studies Classroom.
