Absolutely hated this one.  Some had a page some didn't.  The ones that did listed their resume.  It gave no information on what they teach, or homework links, or anything useful.  It looked like a combination between a resume and a yearbook entry.  If they're going to be that simplistic, I don't understand why they all didn't have something on their page. They didn't even have contact information.

But I loved this one! He had a main page with balloons and planes, that linked to four other pages our class, coming events, grading policies, and a class album. He kept the site updated and had email link.  It was a very fun eye-catching site.

This one also had an opening screen, which led to other pages. But the list of other pages was almost overwhelming.  Almost.  She covered just about every topic you could imagine might come up in any class during a year. It was as if her website was the same as her classroom. She listed assignments, had web links the kids could go to, lessons online, schedules, field trips, learning tools....you name she's either got it on there or a link to it. She even had a way for parents to sign up for appointments and students to ask her questions. This site was well thought out and she must take time and care to update it.

This classroom website was okay. However, I didn't like the look of the homepage. On the homepage, the links were made with pictures of the solar system. The links were not labeled. You had to roll your mouse over the picture to see where the link would take you. There were two links to the school and the classroom calendar. The letter to the parents link was not up to date. It was daed for the spring, and one link was not active anymore.

I loved this website. The graphics were colorful and pretty, but not overdone. She had included a picture of her class on her homepage, but did not list any names. She had links to Indiana's state curriculum and standards, the grading scale, classroom policies, schedules, projects and scrapbooks, student links, parent links, a meet the teacher page, and the school's web site. It would be very informative to a parent while remaining user friendly. I loved her meet the teacher page. It was cute and told the kids about her when she was in third grade.

I liked this website also. Again the graphics were cute, but manageable for the computer.  She had a sidebar of links that appeared on each page. So it was easy to move about the site. Also the links were active and up to date. She had links to a meet the teacher page, class schedules, standards for each subject, grading scale, spelling list, scrapbook, 100 book club, math superstars, and a webquest. This site would be very informative for parents also. They could easily find the information they need.

This site is created using Teacher Web, a $25/year subscription service that allows teachers to create their own websites on the Teacher Web. This particular site is good because the information available to the reader is immediately clear (i.e., supply list, homework, calendar)—students and parents do not have to search all over the place to find what they need. It is also good because there is no extraneous information. All of the important information is here without the ÒfluffÓ that might lead readers off track. The site is also kept up-to-date, which is obviously important when dealing with things like homework assignments.

This site is very nice. Parents are the audience here since the students are just learning to read. It has a lot of fun graphics, though, for students who may be looking at the site with their parents. The most useful, I think, are the subject links (reading, math, etc.) which tell parents exactly what Mrs. Burns will be covering in her class and which skills students are expected to master throughout the year. Mrs. Burns also provides a number of useful links for parents such as the daily schedule, centers activities, etc. After using this site, there would be no doubt in a parentÕs mind that Mrs. Burns considers the parents and herself a team.

This site is fine, but it doesnÕt seem particularly useful. Parents are the target audience, but the information they need, such as what subjects their kids will be learning and what parents can do at home to reinforce, is absent. In its place is a lot of fun stuff—links to a Green Bay Packers fun page, a word-of-the-day kind of page where the words seem too difficult for 2nd graders (ÒtantalizeÓ, for ex.), a calculator that tells how many days/hours/minutes youÕve been alive—things that are fine to have for fun but that shouldnÕt be the main focus of a class web page, especially when the important stuff is missing.

At this site in Oak Ridge, the pages were organized by grade level instead of individual teachers. I like the way they utilized the sidebars and photos.

Grand Oaks in Anderson County is just getting started with their website. The page that is utilized to get to the teacher pages is not very professional--too cutesie for my taste. But since they did not use templates, each individual teacher has a unique webpage. (I've been told that they match the personality of the teacher--haha)

I liked the Georgia O'Keeffe library website. I loved the links to the Caldecott and Newberry award winners. F. W. Kling Elem. School Media Center had good photos of the library. The site was easy to navigate.

I thought the Dixie Library Media Center home page was much too busy, as was St. Joseph School Library's. I thought the Mt. Erie Elem. School library website had too much information that was not necessary. Alpha Int. School has some information not needed, like the Library Media Specialist's Guide.

I really enjoyed this classroom site. I felt she could have given a little more information about herself, but the site was easy to manuever. It showed the curriculum and the calendar was an added bonus.

South NewtonÕs 5th grade

Review by: Antonette Williams

This site was alright. I didn't like that it seemed crowded like too much information was trying to be placed on the front page....I liked the homework board and the calendar, but the calendar didn't have anything extra like the Gaston site. The size and the font I thought should be larger and the blue not so light. One teacher had a site that talked about who she was, but not the other. Is one 5th grade class better? Is one teacher better? If they are going to share the website, I felt that should show what is unique about each of them as well show that they work together and one class is equal to the other.

Wow. I like that you can confirm appts and each teacher had their own special "icon" that showed a little about their personality. Some of the links were slow to come up and I thought is was a little cute, but with more information needed. I did like the music a little that came up, but some of the teachers need more info and less cute (did I say that already)

Ms. Reigle 5th grade web page is very interactive.  She has interactive web site.  She has quizzes, homework, extra practice, information and other web sites you can go to for math help.  It looks simple but the links are really good.  I am sure it took a lot of time to get all of the links and the lessons on line.  I used this site with my students to do mean, median and mode.  She had several good ideas

Here is just one teacher page that is under construction.  There seems to be more classroom sites under construction than there are up to date ones.  I can understand this.  Trying to keep a web page going, a classroom and the other things going web pages are the last thing that would get done.  All students do not have access to the Internet and most if they do they have only one computer at home and the parent might use it when students are home.  Web pages are great but having a teacher to talk with is better.

This site has a nice picture of a landscape.  There was a lot of information but it was not interactive.  This group of teachers had many list of things that were needed or information about what would be going on in the future.  Well organized but not nearly as creative as the first web page.
